What ThaliPOS is

ThaliPOS is an offline-first restaurant point-of-sale and operations platform. One system runs the counter, the self-order kiosk, the kitchen display, QR ordering, your own online storefront and the delivery marketplaces — on one menu, on hardware you already own.

What is ThaliPOS?

ThaliPOS is an offline-first, AI-assisted restaurant point-of-sale and operations platform. One system covers counter POS, self-order kiosk, kitchen display, QR ordering, an online-ordering web storefront, delivery marketplace channels and inventory — all on a single menu. Each restaurant runs a local hub, so the store keeps taking and cooking orders with no internet connection. It goes deeper than most POS systems on Indian restaurant workflows: composite thali plates, half and full portions, per-diner spice levels, weigh-and-pay for mithai, and kitchen tickets in eight languages.

ThaliPOS is built by a small team and is pre-launch, onboarding pilot restaurants. There are no published prices, no customer count and no reviews yet — and this site says so rather than implying otherwise.

The problem we started from

Two problems, and they turned out to be the same problem.

The first is that restaurant software stops when the internet does. Most restaurant POS platforms are cloud applications with a browser in front of them, so an outage during the Friday rush is not a degraded experience — it is a stopped one. The industry's answer has been a limited "offline mode" bolted on afterwards.

The second is that restaurants end up running four systems that each hold their own copy of the menu. A POS, a couple of delivery tablets, an online-ordering add-on, maybe a kiosk. Every price change is four edits, and the one you forget quietly loses money until somebody notices.

Both are architecture problems. You cannot patch your way to a store that survives an outage, and you cannot bolt your way to one menu. So ThaliPOS was built from the store outwards: every restaurant runs a local hub that holds the menu and the orders, every in-store screen talks to that hub, and the cloud is where the data goes afterwards rather than where service depends on.

Who it is for

Independent and small-group restaurants — the operators who need the capability of a large platform without the integration project that usually comes with it.

ThaliPOS is general-purpose restaurant software with deliberate depth in the workflows Indian restaurants use every single service, and which most POS systems make you improvise around:

That serves thali houses and dine-in, dosa and tiffin centers, biryani houses, chaat corners and street food, sweet shops, Indo-Chinese kitchens, catering operations, and multi-brand cloud kitchens. How each of those is served →

What the platform covers

How it is built, and why that shows

Each restaurant runs a hub on its own network holding the menu and a durable order queue. In-store screens talk only to that hub — enforced automatically in our build, so a client that tried to call the internet directly would fail the check before it could ship. Orders carry an id minted in the store, so a reconnect replays them into the cloud exactly once. An automated chaos test severs the connection, drives orders through, restores it and asserts that on every release.

Card-present payments run on Stripe readers; card data goes from the reader to Stripe directly. There are no card-number fields anywhere in the codebase, and an automated check fails the build if anyone adds one. That is an architecture decision, not a policy promise.

The menu is authored once and published to every surface. A price change is one edit that reaches the counter, kiosk, QR menu, storefront and delivery channels together.

A tablet or small PC, standard ESC/POS printers, a plain keyboard-wedge scanner, a serial scale, a Stripe reader. You do not buy hardware from us — we tell you what works and you buy it wherever it is cheapest. The hardware list →

Where we are

ThaliPOS is pre-launch and onboarding pilot restaurants. We are not going to pretend otherwise on our own website.

That means there are no customer logos, testimonials, case studies or review scores on this site, because there are none to show yet. It also means pilot partners get white-glove setup, direct access to the founding team, and real influence over what gets built next — which is worth more than a mature product's support queue, and is the trade we are offering openly.

Capabilities on this site are labelled with their actual state. Where something is in development, it says so on the page. If you find a claim here that does not match what the product does, tell us and we will fix the page.

Talk to us

Email hello@thalipos.com with your restaurant's name, city, and how you take orders today. You get a reply within one business day, from the founding team rather than a queue — a 30-minute walkthrough on your kind of menu, and an honest assessment of whether we are a fit for you yet. If we are not, we will say so.

Questions, answered straight

What is ThaliPOS?

An offline-first restaurant point-of-sale and operations platform. One system covers counter POS, self-order kiosk, kitchen display, QR ordering, an online-ordering storefront and delivery marketplace channels, all on one menu, with each store running on a local hub so service continues without internet.

What makes ThaliPOS different from other restaurant POS systems?

Two things. The store is the primary system rather than a cached copy of a cloud one, so a connection loss does not stop service. And there is deliberate depth in Indian restaurant workflows — composite thali plates, half and full portions, per-diner spice, weigh-and-pay mithai, and kitchen tickets in eight languages.

Is ThaliPOS available to buy today?

ThaliPOS is pre-launch and onboarding a small group of pilot restaurants. Pricing is not published; email hello@thalipos.com and we will talk about your restaurant specifically.

Does ThaliPOS only work for Indian restaurants?

No. It is general-purpose restaurant software. The Indian-restaurant workflows are where it goes deeper than most systems, not the limit of what it runs.

Can I get my data out of ThaliPOS?

Yes. One-click full export of everything you put in, any time, plus Excel and CSV exports in the format bookkeepers ask for.
