Why these are written this way
Most vendor "guides" are a product pitch with headings. They answer the question the product happens to answer, recommend the product, and leave you knowing slightly less than you thought.
These are written on three rules:
- The answer comes first. If the page is called "what is an offline restaurant POS", the first paragraph answers it, plainly, without a preamble about the changing restaurant landscape.
- Any ThaliPOS mention is marked and last. You will find it in italics at the end of a section, labelled as ours. Everything above it is meant to be true whichever system you choose.
- We say when something is not worth doing. Kiosks do not help a kitchen-constrained restaurant. Paper is fine for a single-station kitchen. Inventory projects fail when they start with all 400 items. A guide that only ever says yes is an advert.
If a guide here is wrong or out of date, tell us at hello@thalipos.com and we will correct it.
The three questions behind most of it
- What happens when the connection drops? The question that separates POS architectures more sharply than any feature list. Start here →
- Does this remove work, or move it? Applies equally to AI features, kiosks and kitchen screens. The AI version →
- What am I locked into? Hardware, payment processing and contract length each independently decide whether you can leave. The buyer's guide →
